Stage V and IMO III
The M26.3 family has recently received IMO-III certification from Moteurs Baudouin. These engines will also be available as Stage V compliant from early 2022. We can already offer you these engines today. Additional models will follow, featuring both higher and lower power outputs. There’s strong interest in Moteurs Baudouin’s IMO-III and Stage V solutions throughout the European market. This is largely because they are genuine marine engines at their core. For example, five 6M26.3 engines are currently being installed for diesel-electric propulsion at a Dutch shipyard.
The use of modern ECU-controlled common-rail technology and high allowable back pressure enables a very compact aftertreatment package. Additionally, post-turbo emissions are already lower than with mechanically injected engines, allowing the aftertreatment package to remain compact. Common-rail technology also delivers significantly lower fuel consumption, especially at partial loads. This is particularly important given rising fuel prices!
The DOC-DPF-SCR combination Stage V package for the large V12 engine rated at 1650 hp stands just 62 cm tall. The package offers flexible placement and orientation, so it can be positioned virtually anywhere it fits within the engine room. What’s more, the Stage V exhaust aftertreatment package is easy to maintain – it can be opened up with bolts and the components can then be easily removed for cleaning. A truly robust solution!
The M26.3 common rail models are completely improved versions of the proven and well-established mechanical M26.2 predecessor. These engines all feature inspection covers and removable liners. This enables major maintenance to be easily carried out on board, for example. The engine also has water-cooled manifolds and turbos, which keeps heat emission in the engine room to a minimum. Finally, the engines have BV Type Approval.
